The Need

Dotted Line Icon

On October 14th, a devastating fire swept through Mulwarwan, one of the oldest villages in the Warwan Valley, destroying homes and essential resources. The lack of fire gaps and emergency services allowed the flames to spread rapidly, leaving families without food, animal feed, or agricultural tools—critical for their survival and livelihoods. The fire also destroyed personal belongings, along with our skill development center and two community learning centers, plunging the community into a state of profound loss and distress.

Our Response

Following a thorough needs assessment, CHINAR International launched a structured fire relief initiative in Mulwarwan. First, CHINAR’s Warwan team quickly assessed the situation and coordinated the delivery of supplies overnight to affected families, including food, utensils, blankets, and other essential items. Subsequently, in collaboration with Ehsaas International Trust, CHINAR provided 80 relief packages containing food kits, agricultural tools, and livestock support to affected families. With a presence in Warwan since 2016, CHINAR aims to ensure efficient aid delivery by reassessing needs after one month and focusing on both immediate relief and sustainable recovery. This approach is particularly crucial as an influx of supplies, driven by social media coverage, has led to uncoordinated distribution by some organizations, posing risks of oversupply and waste.
