The Need

Dotted Line Icon

Families enrolled in the Child Development Program often have limited or no source of income and lack the resources to start livelihood ventures. As a result, they are unable to meet the basic needs of their families and provide proper care for their children. This financial hardship significantly impacts their ability to create a stable and supportive environment for their children’s growth and well-being.

Our Response

Dotted Line Icon

Our Livelihood Support program is for the guardians of the beneficiaries enrolled in our Child Development program that are financially struggling with no means of stable income. When one-time or short-term support is provided to the guardians of families, it creates dependency and hinders the self-sustenance process. Our approach focuses on creating a long-term and sustainable impact in the lives of our beneficiaries. We provide them with provisional livelihood support to help them generate a sustainable income so they can raise their families in a nurturing environment and become self-reliant within a specified time-period.

Our Response

In response to this challenge, families are provided with livelihood units to help them become self-reliant. This support enables them to take better care of their families, particularly in meeting the educational needs of their children. By fostering financial independence, the Child Development Program empowers families to create a more stable environment and invest in their children’s future.

FAQ’s

Dotted Line Icon
What is the beneficiary selection criteria?

We use well-defined selection criteria to identify potential beneficiaries for our Livelihood Support program. Guardians of the beneficiaries enrolled in our Child Development program that are financially struggling with little to no means of stable income are eligible for livelihood support. We conduct assessment surveys and consult with community heads, neighbourhoods, school principles and other references to generate an initial list of deserving families. This is followed by a thorough verification process which involves community participation to shortlist the most deserving families for enrollment in the program. For more information, please see our Process and Protocols HERE.

What is the program duration?

The target is to make the family self-reliant within 3-5 years. However, program duration varies from beneficiary to beneficiary depending on the type of livelihood provided, the beneficiaries skill-set and their experience level. Eligibility for graduation from the program is evaluated on a regular basis until the beneficiary becomes self-reliant.
