Crisis Relief

We provide orphans and vulnerable children with critical support and a nurturing environment and enable them to attain a quality education so they can blossom and reach their true potential – at home, at school and in the society.

When families are in dire financial need, the guardians of children in our Child Development program are provided livelihood support to help them receive a stable income, become good role models for their children, create a nurturing family environment and become self-reliant.

We work with low-resource government schools in collaboration with the Department of School Education (DOSE) to transform schools and facilitate the holistic development of children by making students independent learners and enhancing the learning outcomes expected at their age.

We work with unemployed youth and engage them in forums, counselling, skill development and entrepreneurship support to develop their mindset towards innovation, entrepreneurship and dignity of labor and enhance their capacities to become self-reliant.

We have provided emergency relief in response to multiple crises that have impacted the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially those below the poverty line. Forms of relief include food, water, hygiene, medical care, rescue, shelter, reconstruction, livelihood support and much more.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT – Academic Achievement: Zahid Bashir

The CHINAR team feels elated to witness the growth and success of Zahid Bashir, one of the first beneficiaries of CHINARInternational. Zahid, an orphan, was enrolled under the Child Development Program in the year 2011. After the death of his father in 2009, the financial condition of his family deteriorated so much that they were not even able to meet their basic needs offood and shelter. However, CHINAR came to the aid of his family by providing Livelihood Support to his mother, Dilshada, in the form of a sheep unit so as to make her self-reliant. While the sheep unit was in its starting phase, CHINAR took up all expenses of Zahids' education and ensured his holistic development. Once a stable source of income was established for his family, Zahid was able to focus on his education. His dedication and drive to do better in life made him score 401 in his Class 10th Examination. Now once again, Zahid has outshined everyone and secured an outstanding 455 marks in his 12th Class Examination. He has once again made his mother and CHINAR proud of his achievements. We wish him more success in his life aheadSHOW MORE...SHOW LESS

QUALITY EDUCATION – Community Learning Centers

See our Community Learning Centers (CLCs) in action. In the complex Kashmir landscape, we established these centers to fill the gaps in learning competencies and act as safe spaces for children and youth in fragile contexts. Our activity based-learning approach has helped children who were once once shy and non-receptive discover themselves and become more responsive and extroverted. During times of unrest, CLC's keep the future generation focused on education and teach them confidence, competencies and skills to ensure that they are prepared to join mainstream school education.SHOW MORE...SHOW LESS

CRISIS RELIEF – COVID-19 Emergency Response

See our CHINAR Warriors in action. In the early days of the COVID19 crisis, our experienced ground team quickly mobilized to arrange and distribute Emergency Relief Kits (ERKs) to low-income families across the far flung villages and districts of Jammu and Kashmir. These ERKs contain essential food items and hygiene products to help those who are dependent on daily wages for their sustenance make their ends meet. Our emergency response team has to walk several kilometers on foot to deliver ERKs to the doorsteps of the most deserving families as the roads are often inaccessible with rough terrain. Till date we have distributed thousands of ERK's. We continue to receive multiple relief requests on our helpline and the distribution continues thanks to your ongoing support.SHOW MORE...SHOW LESS
